1966 Honda CB77

The Honda CB77 is one of the most popular of all the early Hondas. It is a 305cc machine with a single overhead cam, dual carburetors, electric starter and a 4-speed transmission. Known as the Superhawk, it followed the 250cc CB72 Hawk in production and was a more powerful, quicker machine.

This Superhawk is one of the bikes that Terry rides frequently. It was fully restored by a shop in San Francisco and purchased by Terry a few years later. I its now equipped with low bars and a racing seat to complete the “café’ racer” look and feel much like the silver and black CB77 that Terry rode in High School!.

The most common color for the CB77 was black, but the did also come in Blue, White and the Red that you see here. These machines were amazing machines in their day. They were quick handling, has massive double leading shoe front brakes (a real break-through in those days), shifted smoothly, didn’t leak oil, started every time and had electrics that allowed the lights to always work. By today’s standards, the were not that impressive, but “back in the day” they were a joy to ride.
